This potting grit is ideal for adding to composts for root cuttings and propagating cuttings, greenhouse benches, breaking up clay soils . Adding Horticultural Grit to your compost prevents the soil from sticking together allowing excess water to freely drain away.

Mix one part loam to one part Horticultural Grit and one part leaf mould or coir is an ideal planting mix for a rock garden.
Covering sewn seeds with a fine sprinkling of grit will prevent them from drying out as they germinate.
